Speech of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji - June 26, 2016 - Fluëli Ranft, Switzerland
Compiled by Sridhar Matukumalli
Hari Om Tat sat
Yesterday night all of you enjoyed Sri Swamiji’s concert. How many people chant Hanuman chalisa or know about Hanuman chalisa?
Many devotees are thinking of mysticism of Hanuman and Dattatreya. Both are the same. Hanuman has the aspects of Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu. About lord Dattatreya it goes without saying. Lord Dattatreya and Hanuman are Trinity. All faiths speak about the same concept- of *** in different ways. Some faiths or religion interpret *** as a cosmic power, some as light, some as five elements and some as sound. So speaking at physical level *** is an invisible feeling. The concept of *** is very difficult to explain and understand. It is for this reason that many Epics, Bible, Quran, and Buddhism have originated.
To explain *** is very difficult. Many varied concepts are used. Hence it is confusing for some people to understand ***. The final conclusion and truth of all these preaching’s is ‘*** IS ONE ‘. This is like the prayer ashrama’s daily prayer ‘Tameka Devam Sharanam Vrajamyaha’, I am sure you are well versed with ashram’s daily prayer ‘Shiveti Shoureti ‘. Go ahead and analyze the meaning of the prayer- ‘Shiveti Shoureti ‘. You will understand the concept of dharma - righteousness.
So many people enquire about the meaning of dharma. Time and again I have explained about the concept of dharma. Many spiritual masters have also explained about dharma. Many books like Sri Bhagavat Gita explain about dharma. Spiritual masters like Sri Ramakrishna pramahamsa, Sri Vivekananda Swami, and many more have explained about the concept of dharma. Nonetheless people are confused. To some people confusion is enlightenment and they think it’s good. These people always ask questions and are always confused. It is a die-hard habit for some people. In my opinion it is a disease. These people always ask questions. They are not willing to analyze and earn the answer. I don’t understand their mentality. May be it’s some kind of mental imbalance.
Learn to ponder on your questions, analyse them and earn the answer. You must search inside. This will make you understand your question and also will earn answer. You must search inside for the answers. The life time of body, mind, sense organs, intellect is very short. Human’s believe and behave like their life span is 2000 – 4000 years. This perception about longevity of life is not good.
In all Sri Swamiji’s preaching’s of Bhagavat Gita, He instructs you to practice. You must practice. Practice is the strength that yields experience. You must practice to gain experience. You must practice. Practice is penance.
Sri Krishna recommended practice to Arjuna.
Arjuna: yes I am practicing.
Krishna: Keep practicing. Be persistent with it.
Arjuna asks: Every time you instruct me to keep practicing. How do you know I am not practicing?
Krishna: I know because you are asking many questions. Hence I recommend you to continue practice. When you stop questioning, your practice is over.
Practice same song, same tattva, and same lesson repeatedly. You must persist with practice. It is penance. You must do penance.
Read epics. You will see many seers have indulged in penance for very long time. Going through the seer’s stories you will realize that they have practiced penance for 2000- 3000 yrs. They indulged in different kinds of penance and persisted with it. Seers Sanka, Santhakumara are very old saints and devotees. The seer Sanaka prays to Vishnu, He appears.
Sanka, Santhakumara: O Vishnu ! we are practicing penance.
Vishnu: Thanks, what now?
Sanka, Santhakumara: who is paramatman?
Vishnu: I think you are yet to start practice.
This answer of Vishnu to Sanka and Santhakumara gave them the true meaning of the concept of practice and its persistence- which is called penance.
Understanding only continuous practice as penance one must do penance until mind is free from questions and confusions. Practice until it yields silence. Only then Ananda-Bliss is experienced.
All karma’s are like diseases. Don’t give importance or value to them . Is there any medication for karma? Yes practice is medication. Practice to prevent karma from growing upon your body and mind.
Strong-willed practice on daily basis is good. Be headstrong to negate the desire of unwillingness practice. Practice daily for half- hour. This way the disease – karma will be killed and you will be purified.
It is traditional for goldsmith to burn gold repeatedly in fire. This burning process will melt away the impurities leaving behind pure gold. Pure gold is shiny because it is free of impurities. Similarly repeated practice removes confusion and then it feels very good. When practice is finished or fulfilled, you are not asking any questions, not speaking anything, not answering any questions, no eating, and no sleeping. You are always happy. The illusion that I am the body is gone. This body is not permanent. This is a vehicle. We are using this body as an instrument to travel, to live, and help to uplift yourself to Ananda.
Mauna means silence. Happiness is moksha - liberation. When silence is attained, dualities vanish. There are no questions, no doubts, no happiness, no sorrow, and no pain. The pain you suffer in silence is karma. It is not my pain. I am always happy. I am using this body so sometimes the suffering crops up. Pain feels very happy to be respected. To stop a crying child we give him some attention. He stops crying and goes to sleep. Our attention to the child is plain drama. Pain and children share same mentality Treating different pains like different children medicate them with different types of respects. This will make them happy. Now you can continue your work without any disturbance. Medicating your karma means supplying of some food and happiness. Administer the medicine to your karma and move on.
Ego is always demanding. It wants biggest share of happiness. It gives itself the highest priority. Ignoring is the best medication to an egoistic person. Ignoring softens the ego of an egoistic person. Conversely respecting egoistic person will inflate his ego. Neglect is the best medicine to make an egoistic person understand that egoistic behavior is never respected.
Happy people always share and spread happiness. Such people are always respected. Happy people don’t suffer from ego. They always share, spread, and reciprocate their happiness to others. They are always willing to do so and yes it for free. Such people are really liked.
Ego is a big disease. All spiritual books mention ego as a big karma. Egoistic people are always self- centered. They make their own statements. They are 50 % ***. Being indifferent to ego will automatically *** it. Respect breeds ego in human beings. Ego is a big subject. It has many different chapters. Big and different dramas. I also must neglect this ego, I neglect the subject today.
Tomorrow we go into big penance - Mauna course.
Last seminar in Germany was wonderful. I cannot forget that seminar. It was a good opportunity and experience. This is a penance. How many of you have attended the mouna seminar held in Germany? They can’t forget the experience. Sitting with Sri Swamiji is itself penance. Slowly your bad karma will be killed. Slowly you will understand yourself. Three days you will study about yourself.
The first lesson is self-realization. This is Mauna. This is a very rare course. Others do it only for some hours. We do it for many hours and days to together, we need a lot of patience, bhakti and energy. Some people fall asleep. I have recommended to back rest chair. Sit in chair or on ground, both are good, Take the wall as back rest.
Today I am very happy. Today evening bhajans, devotees also signing may be I will also come and participate.
