Speech of HH Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji - Sri Jayalakshmi Mata Kalyanam - morning - March 22, 2015 - Hyderabad

Swamiji is now remembering the rishis Bharadwaja (Narasimha Sastry's lineage) and Harita (Jayalakshmi Mata's lineage). They were karma yogis. Bharadwaja is famous for his feasts. Bharata received hospitality from Sage Bharadwaja and temporarily forgot the pain of the absence of Rama. Swamiji is born in that lineage and is famous for his Annadana. Datta Bhiksha seva and Share-your-food programs he has started. Swamiji's father Narasimha Sastry also sold personal things to feed people. At this Subha muhurtam/auspicious time, Swamiji is present here amidst us. We are all very fortunate. Linganna gave away his property to the poor when he moved away from Mekedatu when famine occurred. A charitable nature runs in the family. Jayalakshmi Mata, when she cooked food, gave the food away along with the container in which it was cooked.

We are all very lucky to witness this marriage ritual between Narasimha Sastry and Jayalakshmi Mata, it is a Loka kalyanam/marriage that benefits all the worlds.

This wedding is not in any kalpa. There is no record of it in any scripture. This is only in Guru Kalpa. Before birth itself a person's name is decided, the Sastras say. Jayalakshmi is Lakshmi. Therefore this is Lakshmi Narasimha Kalyanam. Ashtalakshmi vaibhavam cinema produced by Swamiji, if you have seen, you would have seen that Mother Goddess Lakshmi, as Chenchulakshmi, His consort, gives the leaf-juice of the Audumbara tree, when after killing the demon Hiranyakashipu, Lord Narasimha still remains in a state of intense fury. Then He became Shanta Lakshmi Narasimha Swami/peaceful Lord Narasimha. At that time Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami vowed that He would remain in that sacred Audumbara tree as Lord Dattatreya. Narasimha Sastry and Sri Jayalakshmi Mata have given us Datta in the form our beloved Swamiji. We are witnessing this wonderful ritual with devotion and concentration.

Swamiji Himself has offered Talambralu/pouring auspicious rice on the heads of the bride and bride groom. He shows us how we should love and respect our parents. Dandalu dandalu Ramayya bhajan composed and sung by Swamiji describes the pouring of talambralu in the wedding of Rama and Sita. The rice thus offered to the gods must sprinkle in our homes to give us all Bhakti/devotion, Jnana/spiritual knowledge, and Vairagya/dispassion, and also prosperity, health, and all good things in life.

Now Mangala snanam/holy bath and Mangala harati/final offering of camphor light by Swamiji will take place.
