Speeches of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji - Hanuman Jayanthi and Datta Jayanthi Day 1 - December 23, 2015 - Mysore
Speech in the afternoon - Karyasiddhi Hanuman Sannidhi

Om Namo Hanumate Namaha

We began chanting the Hanuman Chalisa nearly one year ago. Still, we are short of 1 billion to reach our target of 9 billion. That’s why, you must chant and send your count. It’s very important that you send your count. So many people say they are always chanting Hanuman Chalisa, but are not sending the count. If you do not send in your count, then that chanting is only for yourself and your family. Okay, you can keep it. But if you want to be selfless and contribute towards protecting this world, you must send your Hanuman Chalisa count to sgshanumanchalisa@gmail.com. You can use Sound Cloud to listen to Hanuman Chalisa on your computers or your phones. Please try to send your count. I’ll use that count towards this Yajna, this Maha Vrata (great vow). You would have participated in Swamiji’s good work.

There’s a Hanuman Yajna in April. That will not be the final Yajna. There will be 9 Yajnas. First Yajna will be at the time of Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Ashrama next year. There will be 9 Yajnas. One in Mysore, one in Hyderabad, I don’t know where the rest will be, maybe Himalayas, maybe Haridwar, maybe Rameswaram, I don’t know. Maybe Hampi, maybe by Pampa river which is the birthplace of Hanuman in Karnataka. We will set up the schedule with 6 months or 1 year in between each Yajna. Also, please send your video recording of Hanuman Chalisa. Our target is 100,000, we only have 30,000. Please send your video recording. We will put the recordings in the sky. The website will appear for the first few days. After one year, it’ll disappear. We are giving them to the angels. The angels will benefit. The recording will appear only for one year. Please video record yourself chanting Chalisa, have your children, your schools, friends, colleges, villages etc., record too.

It’s a wonder. Last week, I went to Bhuj. I met so many people from the military. I met the Border Force too, there are many friends of Swamiji there. I met thousands of people. Everyday, the Indian army there is chanting Hanuman Chalisa. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs there, they are all chanting Hanuman Chalisa. 2 million people everyday are chanting. Everyday. I went to the border, to a small location where I had Darshan of a very rare Hanuman. You can’t see that Hanuman. There is no permission for people to go there. There are strict rules. Because I am a devotee of Hanuman and also because there are so many Hanuman devotees there – I am also like a military man – I could visit. They took me to that place and we worshiped for two days in the same location, by the border. We stayed there and also had a little bit of adventure. Our feet would sink into the ground in some places because it was a salt desert. It was a good experience. That is how Kutch is. Kutch has three parts. We only went to one part – the most dangerous part. We were very happy. We were so happy that we could see the Hanuman established on the nation’s border. This was the temple built by the military. It was built after the Kargil war. I was overjoyed. No one is allowed to go there. Those who went with me are incredibly fortunate. They should not forget it their entire life.

Those who went ahead of us and surveyed the place for my visit are also very fortunate. They will all perhaps be in Hanuman Loka. Such good fortune the drivers and others accompanying Swamiji earned. The cars cannot go in a group. Only one car is permitted at a time. You can’t have 5 people in a car. They had very strict rules. I went there. I went to see the Hanuman. I will post the picture of that Hanuman either today or tomorrow. Since today is Hanuman Jayanti, I will post that picture today. You will not find that Hanuman idol in your entire life. I have never seen one like that anywhere else. I don’t know where they got it. It’s a very rare idol. It’s “Dushta Sikshaka” Hanuman temple. (Dushta Sikshaka = The supreme power that punishes/reforms the wicked). I am very happy about that Hanumanta. He is always in my mind’s eye. It’s not an idol. Hanuman is really there. Very small Hanumanta. It looks very small. It’s only one foot tall. You may not have seen such a Hanuman anywhere. I will post it this evening. Share with your friends and family. Everyone should “Like” the photo. If it gets 500,000 likes, I will do Yajnas in Mysore soon. If not, I will do the Yajnas in a location you cannot come to. You will not be able to see.

Also, another thing I thought about – they tie bells in that Hanuman temple. All military personnel tie a bell there after each battle. Battles keep going on, on the border. It’s a very difficult life. We don’t know. We sit here and eat Vadas and drink coffee, watch TV, quarrel with each other, get public votes and become famous personalities. But, what can we say about those who are protecting the border? They are the real gods. They are themselves Hanuman. I have both, tears of joy and tears of sorrow, when I see them. We sit here and have fun. We don’t want to put our kids in the military. Why can’t you put one of your four male children in the military? They protect our country. Why do you need all four children? Give one to the country. Even if you have two kids, give one to the country. Where will they go? They will come back after 30 years. There are many people there from Andhra, meaning Telugu speaking people. Victory to Andhra! So many Telugu people there. There are many from Punjab as well. There were many people from Punjab serving Swamiji there during the visit.

There was one person there who was constantly serving Swamiji. He was a very rare servant and a good volunteer. On the last day of the visit, I patted his shoulder and said, “You are going to be a big man”. Finished. He was really an ordinary person. But for someone that served me like that, when I touched his shoulder and blessed him, he is set, his future is set. All other Ashrama children were watching wondering why Swamiji was blessing him so much. Within a week, he had good results. When Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi went there, he hand picked this man as his tour guide. He was a nobody; he had no degree, nothing. Modi selected this man to be the guide for three days. From there, he will go higher. Service to Swamiji is like that. If you just close the car’s door for Swamiji with devotion, that’s enough. If you even place the Padukas for Swamiji to wear, that’s enough. It must be done with devotion, not with selfishness and not with the ulterior motive that it’ll do you good. I may suddenly pick someone in the middle of the crowd and pat his shoulder. His future will be set, his health will be good, and he will become a devotee. I don’t touch everyone, you know that. It’s not me touching, it’s Hanuman. Swamiji has immense compassion. He wants to touch everyone. But the energy there is different.

There was one lady, a wife, who was constantly coming to Swamiji. She had this small desire in her mind that her husband and her older sister become devotees like herself and that they should visit Swamiji like she does. They were reacting unfavorably to any mention of Swamiji’s name. They would bark at her. They dismissed her ideas as blind faith and superstition. She told me and cried about it. I told her that her husband would wash Swamiji’s feet and carry him on his shoulder. She didn’t understand. “How can he wash Swamiji’s feet and carry him on his shoulder? My sister cannot even tolerate the mention of Swamiji’s name. How is this possible?”

One day, the older sister somehow found Sri Swamiji somewhere. I’m not sure how, but they can probably explain that themselves. She had a little daughter. The daughter asked her mother why they couldn’t go see Swamiji. The mother explained that they didn’t have such beliefs and that Swamiji is surrounded by girls. She sounds like a woman from Andhra. The daughter was now bent upon seeing Swamiji. She insisted. Upon her insistence, they finally brought her to the Panvel Ashram in Mumbai. That’s it. I don’t know what happened after. They began chasing after Swamiji. They became very devoted. The older sister told her husband about Swamiji. “Your sister got you into this as well? Okay, what can I do? Go ahead,” he said. Her father also came to Swamiji. “My son-in-law is stuck in the Kargil war”. It was a big war, you all know that. But, we are all sitting here and eating our snacks, so we don’t know anything. We eat our Vadas (spicy donut shaped snack), watch our TV series and don’t care about anything else. They are protecting us at the border. We must do something for them. Let’s at least salute them whole heartedly and pray for them. The father came here to Garuda Mantapa and prayed. “Swamiji, my son-in-law is stuck in the Kargil war, I don’t know if he’ll be able to come back. He is in great danger, I heard he’s taken a lot of bullets”. What Swamji told him is a secret, I can’t tell you that. As soon as the father got home, he received news that Kargil war had stopped. And the son-in-law was found. Lot of things happened to a lot of people in the war. I can’t tell you all those things here, in the presence of Lord Shiva and Hanuman. Shiva is Hanuman. He knows everything. So, the son-in-law was found. Swamiji had told the father that the son-in-law would be found. He was found without too much hassle.

Don’t assume that problems will get solved as soon as you come here. Be careful. Don’t think that new people can come here and get their problems solved. We have to work hard. We have to understand Swamiji a little. We have to contribute to Swamiji’s projects and tasks. We should lend our sweat if we have no money. We should be devoted. You should at least chant the divine name a few times each day. Only those who follow Swamiji and look after him with love and devotion will get their problems solved. Don’t think I am blessing anyone. I have nothing. I am only a body of bones and blood. It’s only a connection. He (***) will come Himself. At that instance, it might seem like Mother Goddess is blessing. Or, Lord Hanuman may answer prayer at that time and give you instructions.

After this incident, the son in law wanted to see Swamiji. That’s it. If the son-in-law came, he does not let go of Swamiji. He comes once in a while now. But he will come back to Swamiji. Just as the earth is round, things come around. Some people may stay away for 3 or 4 months sulking at Swamiji, but the more they sulk, the faster they run back to Swamiji. So, it seems better that they sulk or are angry. Those who are angry with Swamiji think of Swamiji more, like Kamsa thought about Krishna. You may not think about Swamiji as much, but just think about how much Kamsa thought about Krishna. Krishna was always on his mind, “Krishna may show up now”, “I have to *** Krishna”. Did we think about Krishna so much? Devotees don’t think about Krishna so much. We eat, sleep and forget. But Kamsa thought about Krishna 24 hours a day. That’s why he attained liberation. That is why, those who consider themselves enemies of the Guru think about the Guru all the time. You don’t. You forget about Guru sometimes. Because they are always thinking about Guru, good things will happen to them one day. But we should not begin follow their example and become wicked. It is better to think, “Swamiji must have introduced such people in this creation for a reason. It’s none of my business. That’s their story, this is my story”. We should not even try to mend their ways. “Swamiji will correct them if necessary”.

Anyway, I told that devotee the other day that her husband would wash my feet and carry me on his shoulders. She wondered how a military man would do this. That day (during the trip), Swamiji’s foot was stuck in slush. It was like a story from Bhagavatam. It was salty slush. Swamiji’s foot was stuck in it. This man brought buckets full of water and tried to get Swamiji’s foot out, insisting that he alone had to do it. I told him he might ruin his uniform, but he didn’t care. He said he would take off the shirt and do it in his vest if necessary. He insisted on doing it himself. He extricated Sri Swamiji’s foot, washed it with his own hands, and walked Sri Swamiji back.

There were big rocks there, so I couldn’t place my foot on the ground. He supported Sri Swamiji as Swamiji put one foot on the Paduka and rested his arm on the man’s shoulder. The wife remembered that. “Swamiji did not even give me Padukas, I am such a devotee, I’m always following Swamiji wherever he goes, like a mad woman. I didn’t have the good fortune to wash His feet. How did he get it?” That’s how it always is. Because Hanuman’s topic came up, I’m telling you this.

In that Hanuman temple, they tied a number of bells. For each victory, they tied a bell. Like that, when we pray to Swamiji and we achieve success in that task we prayed for, we should tie a bell here. We will arrange for bells here. You can purchase them here. Bring one, and tie it here inside the temple. Don’t tie it outside, someone may take it away. Tie the bells inside. Today, I will start with one bell. Every time you achieve success, tie a bell. You can tie any bell – small or big. Not the bell you use during worship, but the bell you see in the temple. If it is the bell you use in worship, people may take it away. Let’s see how many bells we get. I will see how many people got blessed by Swamiji. So now, people will go to the market and look to buy bells. Mysore will be filled with bells. Every shop will carry them. The shopkeepers will call me and ask, “Why is everyone looking for a bell, Swamiji?” There are so many thousands of bells in that temple. They tie bells on every occasion. If they have housewarming, they tie a bell. If they get a new baby or have another good occasion, they tie a bell. It’s become a habit for them. It’s very good to tie a bell to Lord Hanuman. If you tie the coconut, your personal tasks get accomplished. Once your personal task is done, you can tie a bell, can’t you? We untie the coconut in 16 days, take it home, make a chutney of it and eat it ourselves. But the bells will be here forever.

So, I went to see such a Hanuman’s form the other day. We plan to do a Yajna on the Mandara mountain some time. It’s like Gandhamadana mountain. Chant Chalisa and finish the 100 crores quickly. We only need 100 crores more. Out of the 900 crores which is our goal, we completed 800 crores. We only need 100 crores (1 billion) more. That last 100 crore is taking a while to come in. Increase the speed a little. Will you do it? We will then complete the 900th crore after which we will do the Yajna. Just resolve to chant with determination. People sitting here in the back have been doing marathon Chalisa chanting in various places - like a revolution - including in places like Mekedatu. Here, they are doing marathon chanting in Swamiji’s name. They are only chanting the name of Sri Padavallabha and Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji. We can join them whenever we can. Sit with them and chant 200 or 300 rounds or 1000 rounds. Join them for a few minutes or an hour. A big Yajna is going on with this chanting. After Ugadi, there’s a big Hanuman Chalisa program in Hyderabad. Don’t miss the opportunity. Bring your family and friends. Do not miss the opportunity. The more people we have the more count we get. This will take place on April 10. Find out by Shivaratri what the venue is. It’ll be publicized well. There are 3 grounds in Hyderabad, Swamiji will be in one of them. Hanuman, did you hear everything I said?

(Swamiji rings the temple bell he’s about to tie in the temple) Do you know why we ring the bell? It is to get attention. That is why a bell is rung for Arati.

I was going to post the photo of Hanuman from Bhetiya Bheti today. This place is named so because this is where India and Pakistan had their truce. But, our Hanuman held my hand and had me post his picture instead. “How can you not post my picture?” Did you all ‘Like’ it? Don’t share immediately. If you do, the likes go to your profile. Share after 1-2 days. Then, the likes go to the Sri Swamiji page. Unless the likes get counted towards the SriSwamiji page, we can’t count them towards the Hanuman Chalisa Yajna. Everybody should look forward to the photo each day. “Which Hanuman is posted?” “When did Swamiji go there?” The count goes up very quickly. Sometimes, by the night, it goes into tens of thousands. It’s 23K or 24K by the morning. By the afternoon, it is over 50k and by the evening it is 87K or 100K. People are watching from all over the world, Hanuman devotees are all over. We, Hanuman devotees should definitely ‘Like’ the picture. We should compete to Like it first and then Share it after. By 6pm or so, the picture will be posted. It may be a little after 6pm sometimes, but you must watch out for it. Keep looking for the picture. There’s a prize for the 108th Like. No one in our group has ever been the 108th person. It’s always been someone else - someone from Bangladesh or China. Lot of Chinese people like the photos. Or it’s someone from America. That’s why, we should wait for the picture and like it quickly. No one from Andhra, Karnataka has made it to the 108th position. It’s easy to miss. We are liking till 107th, but the 108th like is never ours. It jumps up to 110th. Anyone here got the 108th like? No, no one did. You may think you did, but you didn’t. I will know when you do, because we can see it. It’s always someone from China or Bangladesh or Pakistan.
Who has “Liked” the photo today, raise your hands?
