HH Sri Swamiji in Canada - 30 June to 4th July 2016
Pujya Sri Swamiji visited Canada from 30th June to 4th July 2016. This visit coincides with Pujya Sri Swamiji historic 40th anniversary of western travels. From 1976 to 2016, Pujya Swamiji has travelled the globe extensively and established Ashramas in US, Canada, Malaysia, Australia, London & Trinidad.
Sri Swamiji travelled Zurich - Toronto on 30th June and arrived in the noon of that day.
1st July is celebrated as Cananda Day. Sri Swamiji visited Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto with devotees. The awe inspiring sea creatures from deep down came in various shapes, sizes & colors.
After coming out, a devotee gave Sri Swamiji a Canada flag and Sri Swamiji wished all devotees “Canada Day”.
2nd July 2016 was the historic day when Sri Swamiji visited the new land purchased by Datta Yoga Center Canada for future Ashrama. Sri Swamiji arrived Ashrama site in Erin town at 10.40 AM. Sri Swamiji first toured the proposed Guru Nilayam and Ashrama buildings. The six acres land faces east with road running north-south. The building on the land was built for school use in 1960 and is a solid construction. A church is running it’s office from the premises now. Sri Swamiji later went around the land and arrived at the tent erected for today’s program. Sri.Manish Goel, Chairman of Datta Yoga Center, Canada welcomed Sri Swamiji. The national anthem of Canada and India were sung. Sri.Ramsaran, estate agents offered garland to Pujya Swamiji. Sri.Manish explained the history of Datta Yoga Center, Cananda from 1993 till date. Canada has arranged several high profile programs of Sri Swamiji including Guru Purnima programs, concerts, a Datta temple in Brampton area of Toronto among many other things.
The Trustees of Datta Yoga Center offered the title document and a symbolic key to Pujya Sri Swamiji.
Sri Swamiji is His address said that he felt Hanuman vibrations in the area and suggested that a Hanuman Mandir should be built by Datta Yoga Center, Cananda on the Ashrama site. Sri Swamiji blessed the devotees who made this historic possibility.
In the evening, Sri Swamiji visited Datta Yoga Center’s Datta Temple in Brampton, Toronto. Sri Swamiji performed Sri Chakra Puja & Shani Trayodashi Puja. Later Pujya Swamiji gave a discourse and asked devotees not to get worried about ill effects of Shanideva. Sri Swamiji taught the Shani Stotra to devotees and asked them to chant the Stotra daily. The stotra is
śani stōtra
kōṇasthaḥ pingalō babhruḥ kr̥ṣṇō raudrauntakō yamaḥ |
sauriśśanaiścarō mandaḥ pippalādēna samstutaḥ ||
namastē kōṇa samsthāya pingaḷāya namōstutē |
namastē babhrurūpāya kr̥ṣṇāya ca namōstutē ||
namastē raudradēhāya namastē cāntakāya ca |
namastē yamasanjñāya namastē saurayē vibhō ||
namastē manda sanjñāya śanaiścara namōstutē |
prasīda mama dēvēśa dīnasya praṇatasya ca ||
On Sunday, 3rd July 2016, Sri Swamiji again visited Datta Temple and performed Maha Purnahuti of Ganapathy Homa which was performed by Sri. Kandaswamy Gurukkal of Nagapooshini Amman temple. Later Sri Swamiji performed Srii Chakra Puja while devotees chanted Hanuman Chalisa. After the Puja, Sri Swamiji asked Ashok Yankarran to sing Jayalakshmi Mata’s Bhajan “Madhura Nagaravu Bhoo Vaikunthavu”. Sri Swamiji briefly explained the meaning of the Bhajan. Sri Swamiji showed the Rama Pattabhisheka Salagrama to devotees for Darshana. Puja & Homa Prasadams were given to devotees.
In the evening, Sri Swamiji returned to the temple again. Bala Datta children of Canada sang Datta Stavam, Hanuman Chalisa, Bhagawad Gita shlokas and Bhajan - Jai Jai Kapeesha. A cake was offered to Sri Swamiji to celebrate the recent 74th Birthday. Sri Swamiji then held an impromptu Question & Answer session and answered many queries of devotees. Kakadarati of Dattatreya was performed.
On 4th July, Sri Swamiji travelled from Toronto to Jesus Datta Retreat Center in USA.
