Sri Swamiji in Sri Venkateswara Temple, Novi, Detroit, Michigan, USA, 11 July 2013
Pujya Sri Swamiji presided over the Mandala Puja rituals of the newly built Sri Venkateswara Temple in Detroit, Michigan, USA on 11th July 2013.
In the morning, Sri Swamiji was cordially received by Temple Trustees led by President, Sri Saikumar Lingam, Sri. Anand Gangadharan, Sri. Bala Setty, Sri. Venkat Talasila and others. Sri Swamiji Blessed the priests to proceed with Mandala Puja programs. Sri Swamiji performed Sri Chakra Puja in the main temple hall. Devotees chanted Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Stotram and Sri Lalita Sahasranama Stotram. Sri. Anand Gangadharan, Trustee of the temple gave a welcome speech and thanked Sri Swamiji for gracing their temple. Sri Swamiji in a short speech spoke on the Mahatmyam of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. All the Kalashas kept for Mandala Puja were de-invoked, Blessed by Sri Swamiji and Abhishekam performed on the Bhavya & Divya Mangala Swarupa of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. Sri Swamiji witnessed the Abhishekam. Sri Swamiji toured the temple premises and offered prayers in the shrines of Ganapathy, Hanuman, Lakshmi, Sri Venkateswara Swamy and Andal. In the evening. Maha Mangalarati to the deities were performed. Sri Swamiji sang Bhajans for an hour and Blessed all. Dr. Hema Nalini Talasila, daughter of Vijayawada Ashrama founding Trustee - Sri. MVS Chowdhury organized the visit. She and her husband, Dr. Venkat Talasila (Bapuji) were involved with the temple development. She had brought temple construction plans to Sri Swamiji and sought Blessings and had kept Sri Swamiji informed about the temple construction developments. Sri Swamiji arrived in Saginaw on 9th and stayed in their house on the 10th July. On 9th July, Sri Swamiji visited Feathered Friends Forever, a refuge and rescue center for Parrots in Harlem, Georgia. Sri Swamiji handed over a donation of $ 20,000 from Yoga Sangeeta Inc to Feathered Friends Forever. More than 3000 birds have been rescued and given refuge at the center.
