As the world was pushed by the Covid-19 Corona virus to dire straits with new situations, Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji directed Avadhoota Datta Peetham and other Ashramas across India to rise to the occasion and offer food support to the poor & marginalized.
Datta Peetham spent more than one crore Rupees and donated over 5000 grocery bags and offered food to 4000 persons daily during the first lock down from the 25th March to 19th April 2020.
Those who received grocery bags included residents of Datta Nagar, Gundurao Nagar, Auto Rickshaw drivers in front of Ashrama & SGS circle, leprosy colony residents opposite Ashrama, musicians, priests among many others.
As the news of virus started, Datta Peetham donated thousands of masks and hand sanitizers to the sweepers of Mysuru City corporation. This was to mitigate the spread of virus to this marginalized community of Poura Karmikas (street sweepers & sewer cleaners)
Datta Peetham donated 30,000 kilos of rice, 3000 kilos of Dal & 3000 liters of cooking oil to Mysuru Collector & Mysuru city Corporation Commissioner
Datta Peetham donated Rs.15 Lakhs to the food team lead by Sri.Pratap Simha, Member of Parliament, Mysuru. Sri.Somanna, minister in charge of Mysuru district launched the program. 4000 persons were fed daily from 25th March to 14th April.
Pujya Swamiji donated Rs. 5 Lakhs to PM Cares fund of Shri.Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
Datta Peetham gifted grocery bags with 23 items to various workers (who worked in ashrama projects earlier but were workless due to Covid-19 lockdown), residents of Dattta Nagar & Gundu Rao Nagar, Auto Rickshaw drivers at Ashrama gate & SGS Circle, Leprosy colony residents, 1500 poor priest families, 200 poor moslem families, 400 musicians, grave yard caretakers, among others. Over 5000 such grocery bags were distributed in total.
The dynamic volunteer corps of Datta Peetham, Sri Datta Humane Services (SDHS) offered food cooked at Dundigal Ashrama to all police staff under Rachakonda police Commissionerate, migrant labors & poor from the 25th March to 5th May 2020. The served over 10,000 food packets a day through the dates of lockdown.
Ashramas in Vijayawada, Nellore, Khammam, Bengaluru, Warangal, Chennai, Akividu, offered exemplary services to the needy during this occasion. The photographs below are a small example of exemplary work done during this difficult Covid-19 lockdown by Pujya Sri Swamiji’s devotees.
20 April - Responding to the appeal from Mysuru District administration officials for help to feed the homeless during the country wide lockdown due to Corona virus & Covid-19 situation, Pujya Sri Swamiji, on 20th April 2020, donated 30,000 Kilograms of Rice, 3000 Kilograms of Dal & 3000 liters of cooking oil to be used by district administration for cooking food for the poor, needy, homeless & labor camps. The value of the material donated was Rs.18 Lakhs.Shri. Abhiram Shankar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner (Collector) of Mysuru district & Shri. Guru Datta Hegde IAS, Commissioner, Mysuru City Corporation received the materials from Pujya Swamiji & Sri Bala Swamiji. Datta Peetham Trustee, Sri. Rajendra co-ordinated the event & supplies. Annadana Trust Trustee, Dr. Nithyanand Rao was present.

30 April - Shri. S. T. Somashekar, Mysuru district in charge Minister from government of Karnataka took Darshana of Pujya Sri Swamiji on 29 April 2020 and thanked Pujya Sri Swamiji for Datta Peetham's assistance & initiatives in Mysuru region by offering help to district administration and those distressed during the difficult Covid-19 lockdown.

10 April - Pujya Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji donated Rs. 5 Lakh to PM Cares-Fund to assist in the Government efforts to battle the Corona Virus. Sri. S. A. Ramdas, MLA of Krishna Raja constituency, Mysuru received the cheque. This donation is in addition to the massive food distribution by Avadhoota Datta Peetham to the needy in Mysuru, Bengaluru Hyderabad, Akividu, Warangal & other places.

- Total number of Water Bottles Distributed : 80,000 Nos
- Served Lunch and Dinner to the Sanitary and Health Workers in the Qutbullapur Municipal area. Total Number of Beneficiaries : 15000 Nos
- Served food to the poor and Migrant Labour Housed at various Function Halls – Total Number of Beneficiaries : 1,40,000 Nos.
- Distributed Rice, Groceries and Vegetables in Old Age Home for 10 Days. Total Number of Beneficiaries : 200 Members per day
- Distributed Rice and Groceries sufficient for 15 Days to Transgenders in Twin Cities . Total Number of Beneficiaries : 250 Nos
- Distributed Food to Physically Challenged, Leprosy Patients and Civil Construction Labour . Total number of Beneficiaries : 1550 Nos
- All the food distribution activity was carried out by and under the guidance of Police Persons
- Fed the innumerable Monkeys starving for food in the Narsapur Forest Area with Bananas, Biscuits, Fruits and other Vegetables for 15 days
- The SDHS Sevadal has rendered excellent support and service in this activity.
