Sri Swamiji in Andhra Pradesh,01 Jan - 18 Feb 2008
Janawada is a small village in the suburbs of Hyderabad in Sankarapally Mandal. Pujya Sri Swamiji first visited this village in 1999 on the occasion of Sri Datta Venkateswara Temple tour, enrolling members for the temple. At that time, Devotees were so impoverished that they could not afford proper dwelling. Nevertheless the enthusiasm to be a part of the historic mission of Sri Swamiji overwhelmed their resource crunch. They have been closely following Sri Swamiji's mission under the guidance and leadership of Sri B Gopala Krishna, who arranged the visit. Since then, Sri Gopala Krishna, a traditional priest for 5 villages along with his family members wanted a permanent abode for Sadguru Deva to be established in their ancestral village. His family had donated the land to Datta Peetham and taken lead in the construction of Ashrama in Janawada, comprising of Guru Nilayam, Staff Quarters, Temple complex of Vallabha Ganapati, Dattatreya and Durga Devi.
Sri Swamiji was warmly welcomed by villagers amidst bursting of crackers and reverberation of Jaya Guru Datta slogans on 14th February. Sri Prayaga Rama Krishna, Radio Program Director conducted the welcome function. Sri Swamiji decided that this Kshetram would be known as Vishnu Datta Kshetram forthwith, reminiscent of the great Datta devotee Vishnu Datta Somayaji, who was known for his simplicity and service without desire in Datta Purana. On 15th February, Vallabha Ganapati, Vishnu Datta, Vallabha Ganapati, and Durga Temples were inaugurated in the morning. In the evening discourse, His Holiness explained the 9 facets of devotion (Navavidha Bhakti) and connection between Janawada and Datta Peetham.
