65th Birthday Celebrations of Sri Swamiji, Mysore, 20 May 2007

The 8th Brahmotsavam of Sri Datta Venkateswara Swamy, the 9th anniversary of Nada Mantapa's and Pujya Sri Swamiji's 65th Birthday celebrations started in a colorful way on 20th May 2007 in Mysore Ashrama.
In the evening a colorful inauguration program was held in Nada Mantapa. His Holiness Sri Shivaratri Desikendra Swamiji of Suttur Matha in Mysore inaugurated the celebrations. Sri Rama Jois, eminent Jurist and former Governor of Bihar was the key note speaker. Sri Ananta Kumar, Member of Parliament, Sri G.T .Deve Gowda, Co-operation minister, Government of Karnataka, Sri Maha Deva Prasad, Kannada & Culture Minister, Government of Karnataka and Sri. Ramadas were present. Prof. Subash V Kak from Louisiana State University was honored with the title VISHWA HINDU, Sri Ponnuswamy of Coimbatore was honored with the title SASYA BANDHU and Dr.Dhanvantari Acharya from Machilipatnam was honored with the title ASTHANA VIDWAN.
Sri Rama Jois commended the development of Datta Peetham and its global reach to the spiritual needs of the world. He said that every act of Sri Swamiji was for the sake of Dharma.
Sri Ananta Kumar said that Sri Swamiji exemplified the way to celebrate a birthday. Sri Swamiji is honoring men of eminence on His birthday" said Ananta Kumar.
Sri G.T. Devegowda spoke on the clean and attractive Ashrama and its various points of interest like Dharma Stupa, Bonsai garden, Ayurvedic hospital, Viswam Meuseum, Universal Prayer Hall, Datta temple, herbal garden, Sri Datta Venkateswara Temple etc.,
Sri Shivaratri Desikendra Swamiji spoke and said that Sri Swamiji's literary and musical contribution to the world was exemplary and wished Sri Swamiji a long life.
Prof Kak spoke and thanked on behalf of the awardees and spoke briefly on the way Hinduism was appreciated by the thinkers in the west. His scholarly speech drew a thunderous applause.
Sri Swamiji in His speech said that He neither came nor went. His birthday was the event for devotees to come together and celebrate Music, Yoga, Puja and universal understanding. "I am just the medium" said Sri Swamiji.
