Sri Swamiji's Speech in Kaikaluru Ashrama on 6th January 2003

Don’t do Seva with Ego. Don’t expect something in return just because you broke a coconut or brought a flower Mala to a temple. God does not wait for these goodies you dole out. You are giving back what he gave you. You see the Sun with his light. You claim that your vision is great and you can see Sun. This is crazy. You do many things to gain respect in society. God does not want any of this. Even while doing Pradakshina think that it is your walk to a pilgrim town. Think that all your walking in a day is your Pradakshina to Him.

You get what you deserve. If you go to a river with a small vessel you can carry home water only that much. You should not be jealous of a person who is carrying a bucket full of water. He is getting it because he brought a bucket. Then you may ask WHY DO WE NEED A GURU? Only to get strength in difficult times. Why does a blind man carry a torch? Does he need it? No. He carries because a person with eyes should not come and bump in to him. Because these days those with eyes are blind. You have to be aware at all times that what you know pales in front of what you don’t know. The Leela of Paramatma pervades everywhere. You think that you know it all. Those who think they know it all fail fast and surely. One who takes too many precautions fails in life. Then what is a sure and safe method? In Kali Yuga the Nama Smarana is the greatest and the surest method for God’s Path.

Let me sing a few Bhajans.
Sri Swamiji sings Jaya Jaya Ganapati Mangalakarin

God is our only solace. He is the only patient listener of our troubles. Any other person will have enough of it at some pont of time. God is not so. But we have to see God everywhere. Then only that great feeling will come in you. Everything you see is his creation. Any abuse of the same will not go unpunished.

Sri Swamiji sings “Devi Viradrupa Vainatti Neeku”

In this Bhajan the ornaments of nature have been compared with the ornaments of Mother Goddess. Can humans ever make such ornaments ? God is everywhere. He is in poor and he is in wealthy. He is in the cries and he is in laughter. That is his specialty. Who is the listener and who is the teller? He is the one who gives ignorance and he gives truth too. Many claim “I am in search of Truth”. What is this? What is truth? Is he seeking real bliss? Is it available in a store? No. It is in us. Then how to get it? God is in all. It is like telling there is butter in milk. It needs a process to get butter out of milk. To get the principle of God in us it needs a patient process of inner thinking. Like you cook with meticulous attention, the knowing of God in you needs meticulous preparation, process and attainment. Your confusion, inability to change your perceptions and thoughts act against you. When ever you are unhappy with something. Just stay calm for five minutes. You will be okay. My father used to tell me that when I get angry I should count till 100. Mind will attain peace soon than you imagine. Never take hasty decisions. Impulsive decisions cause life long damage. Many of you in this audience had no plans to be here at this moment. You have come with some fate. Some who had elaborate plans have not come. Some who were planning to be in cinema are here. Plans are Man's. Odds are God's. If you give food to some one, don’t brag about it while he is eating. He would feel so miserable. Saying a few words of goodness causes no harm to you. Be nice and pleasing. Your civility while with others is important.

One devotee came to me in Gudivada today and expressed his difficulties. He was finding it difficult to leave me or be with me. He was in a difficult situation. He asked why so much money is collected in the name of Puja while Swamiji could Bless all freely. Then I told him “See you go to a doctor because you are sick. He examines you thoroughly and says you have these problems and prescribes medicine for seven days. You come home and think, why wait seven days when I can swallow all medicines today and get rid of my sickness. The same medicines can poison you. What is Puja? Is it a folk sport? No. It is a time-honored tradition of self discipline. We worship idols to control our mind. Like a doctor’s medicinal prescription, likewise Puja is a medicine for your inner disease. Like a mirror faithfully reflects your true appearance and not that of your favorite cinema actor, Puja gives you the opportunity to conduct a self test of yourself. Getting Jnana is a methodical thing. Some help the world with their thoughts and speeches. Some with Pujas and Archanas. Some with their beautiful singing. The Sadguru decides what you want”. My answer helped him and he went a happy man.
