Krodhi Yugadi festival at SGS Ashrama, Hyderabad
9th April 2024
Parama Pujya Sri Swamiji arrived in SGS Ashrama, Dundigal on the evening of 6th April 2024.
This visit was significant as the Yugadi Festival, Kumbhabhishekam of newly constructed temple complex and Sri Rama Navami festival were to be celebrated in the next ten days.
The Ashrama was well prepared for these major events as tens of thousands of devotees were expected to come and participate.
On Sunday 7th April 2024, Pujya Gurudeva first offered Purnahurti of the first Homa performed in the Yagashala adjacent to Puja stage. Later His Holiness performed Sri Chakra Puja in the sprawling prayer hall. The prayer hall was newly built and was semi finished. Pujya Swamiji had still decided to hold events here as the large hall was suited to accommodate the large crowds.
After the first Sri Chakra Puja in the new prayer hall, Swagata Sabha was held for Pujya Swamiji.
Ashrama Bhajan group sang the Swagata Geeta (welcome song) composed by Smt.Aruna Devi & tuned by Vid.Sheshulata.
The construction committee chairman Sri.SNSR Sekhar and other members offered garland and welcomed Pujya Swamiji. Sri.Murali Krishna gave welcome speech and profusely thanked Pujya Swamiji over and over for blessing the Ashrama with major festivals this year.
Datta Peetha Vidyadhikari, Sri.Kuppa Krishnamurthy offered the new Telugu book “Saraswati Rahasyopanishat” to Gurudeva for release.
The English translation of “Bhagavad Gita Laghu Vakya” was offered to Pujya Gurudeva by the translator Sri.Josyula Gangadhara Prasada Rao. The book was earlier released during Maha Shivaratri festival at Mysuru Ashrama. It was being re-released for the larger audience in Hyderabad. Sri.Prasada Rao and Sri. Kuppa Krishnamurthy were honored and blessed by Pujya Swamiji. Sri Kuppa Krishnamurthy spoke and said - Sri Swamiji introduced the opening "Sri Ganeshaya Namaha, Sri Saraswatyei Namaha, Sri Padavallabha Narasimha Saraswati Sri Guru Dattatreyaya Namaha. Sri Swamiji's commentary on Ganapathy was seen in the book "Ganapathy Atharva Sheersha". Sri Swamiji's commentary on Dattatreya & Guru Tattva can be seen in "Datta Darsanam" book. Now we have the final book in this Mantra sequence on Saraswati Mata. I urge all readers to read all three books.
The second reprint of “Bhagavad Gita Swara Prasthara Vanta” was offered to Gurudeva by Smt.Gita Punjala.
Then, the members of various Ashramas in Telangana offered garlands to Pujya Swamiji and welcomed Sri Swamiji to the ten day program. The members of Panchamukha Anjaneya Kshetra Ramachandrapuram, Datta Giri Ashrama, Ganeshanjaneya Temple - Dilsukhnagar, Varada Datta Kshetra - Warangal, SGS Ashrama - Mahboobnagar, SGS Ashrama - Karim Nagar, Uttarakhand Tirupati Kshetram - Nizamabad, Surya Temple - Kurnool, SGS Ashrama - Indresham were among the many Ashramas who welcomed Pujya Swamiji.
Pujya Swamiji, in the first benedictory address in the new hall said - In certain traditions it is believed that Grihapravesham has to be done when a home is 70% ready. It is happening like that here. Earlier it was planned to inaugurate the temple and this large prayer hall during Swamiji’s birthday in May 2024. However Swamiji wanted the temple Kumbhabhishekam to happen with a powerful Muhurtham. The scholars advised that the best Muhurtham of this year is on 15th April. Hence, the entire program was pre poned by one month. I am happy with the size of this hall. The earlier sheet shed was burnt down and devotees came together to make this permanent prayer hall and temples possible. Two large hearted devotees helped much. The temples now are larger and have shrines of Dattavadhoota Dattatreya, Trimukha Ganapathy, Nageswara Shiva Linga, Raja Rajeswari Devi and Karya Siddhi Hanuman have been rebuilt. Newly constructed “PaataaLa Hanuman” shrine in underground area and a new shrine for Subrahmanya Swami and Navagrahas have been built. I bless everyone who made this possible.
Devotees had the opportunity to come up to Pujya Swamiji and offer their prayers. The queue Darshana went on till 2.30 PM.
In the evening Ashrama Bhajan group sang Bhajans.
In the morning of Monday 8th April 2024, Pujya Datta Prabhu performed the sacred Sri Chakra Puja. The official Panchagam of 2024 published by Datta Peetham was offered to Pujya Sri Swamiji by Dr.Vamshi Krishna Ghanapathi. Pujya Gurudeva released the Panchagam. Pujya Swamiji also released the Telugu book “Shivananada Lahari” published by Datta Peetham for Parayana purposes.
In the evening, the first ever Divya Nama Sankeertana in the “almost ready” prayer hall was held. Sri Swamiji tested the acoustics of the hall by singing various Bhajans and asking the Bhajan group to sing some.
On 9th April 2024 - Tuesday - Yugadi festival was celebrated. The name of the new year is called Krodhi. Yugadi festival is a signature event for Hyderabad Ashrama. However in 2023, Yugadi was held in Trinidad during the Maha Rudra Yaga. The devotees in Telangana area had greatly missed Pujya Swamiji then. But this year they rejoiced that Pujya Swamiji had blessed them to celebrate Yugadi.
Pujya Swamiji after the Anushthanam, received the Yugadi Teertham - a concoction of various tastes - bitter from neem flowers, sour from tamerind juice, saltiness from salt, sweet from jaggery etc.
At 7.30 AM, Pujya Swamiji came to the Yugadi Darshana hall and the gathered devotees loudly called Jaikara. Pujya Swamiji offered Arati to the two sets of Datta Padukas placed at the either sides of His seat.
Pujya Swamiji then spoke and recalled the several Yugadi festivals that have taken place in Hyderabad Ashrama and said He had made the final decision to place his energies in Mysuru Ashrama forever. Though Gurudeva had contemplated on several Ashramas for the final place, many devotees had said to Sri Swamiji that their visits to SGS Ashrama in Mysuru was a Teertha Yatra pilgrimage. Sri Swamiji understood their sentiments for having Mysuru as the final place of Pujya Swamiji’s energies.
From 7.45 Am till 3.30 PM, tens of thousands of devotees passed in front of Pujya Swamiji and touching the Datta Paduka and begun their Hindu new year Yugadi. All devotees were given Yugadi Teertha, Ladoo and Annadanam was performed for all devotees.

Braving the 38 degrees celsius heat, tens of thousands of devotees started their new year with Darshana of Pujya Gurudeva.
Simultaneously, various concerts were happening in the prayer hall. Many reputed musicians offered their Sangeeta Seva during Yugadi.
During the Darshana program, Sri Swamiji released Panchangams from TV5 television channel and Bhakti TV channel.
In the evening, Pujya Swamiji performed Sri Chakra Puja in the prayer hall. The hall was packed fully with devotees eager to listen to Sri Swamiji’s Yugadi message and sing new Yugadi Bhajan.
During Sri Chakra Puja, Vid.Damodara Sharma performed Panchanga Shravana - reading out the salient features of this year’s astrological significances.
Sri Swamiji in the Yugadi message said - the very name of the year “Krodhi” means angry one. There could be upheavals around the world. But keep praying to Subramanya Swamy and Hanuman. They will bless you. Sri Swamiji sang two new Yugadi Bhajans
